THIS SPECIALITY HAS BECOME OVER THE YEARS A SYMBOL OF FANO, A CITY ON THE ADRIATIC COAST OF THE MARCHE REGION, AND FOR CENTURIES THE HOME OF SAILORS AND FISHERMEN.

 

THIS UNIQUE AND UNMISTAKABLE HOT COCKTAIL IS A MIXTURE OF COFFEE, ANISE, brandy AND RUM,

ALL AROMATIZED WITH SUGAR AND LEMON ZEST.

IT IS SAID THAT IN 1892, AN HISTORICAL BAR OF THE CITY OF FANO CREATED THIS COCKTAIL.IN REALITY IT WERE THE FISHERMEN OF THAT PERIOD TO PREPARE IT FOR THE FIRST TIME. INFACT TO KEEP WARM DURING THE COLD WINTER NIGHTS, WHILE THEY WERE STAYING ON BOARD OF THEIR BOATS,THEY BEND THE LEFTOVERS OF DIFFERENT LIQUEURS AND MIXED THEM WITH HOT COFFEE.

 

THANKS TO THE TESTIMONY OF THOSE WHO USED TO PREPARE IT, A SELECTION OF THREE BASIC LIQUEURS (brandy, RUM AND ANISE) WAS MIXED IN PRE-ESTABLISHED PERCENTAGES IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A SELECTED AND SPECIAL PRODUCT.

 

IN 2006, THE “MORETTA” WAS RECOGNIZED AS OFFICIAL COCKTAIL A.I.B.E.S. (ITALIAN ASSOCIATION BARMAN AND SUPPORTERS) AND IN 2011 IT WAS INCLUDED IN THE LIST OF AGRI-FOOD PRODUCTS OF THE MARCHE REGION .
